报告人简介：

中山大学珠海校区数学学院教授，中山大学逸仙学者。研究兴趣包括学习理论、应用调和分析和函数逼近。在机器学习的数学基础方面取得了多项原创性成果。代表性工作有再生核的Weierstrass逼近定理、再生核巴拿赫空间理论、深度神经网络的收敛性理论。主要工作发表于Journal of Machine Learning Research, Appliecand Computational Harmonic Analysis, IEE系列:Neural Networks, Neural Computation, Neurocomputing, Journal of Approximation Theory等，单篇最高他引超过300次。主持包括优秀青年基金在内的多项国家和省部级基金。

讲座摘要：

This talk intends to present the main mathematical knowledgeand methods involved in machine learning. It begins with an introduction to machine learning and its applications, and discusses the far-reaching impact that machine learning can have. The main part of the report is to use support vector machines, generative adversarial networks, speech recognition, PageRank, deep neural networks as examples to introduce the mathematics in machine learning, emphasizethe important role of mathematics in artificial intelligence. FinalIy, the basic mathematics courses involved in machine learning areintroduced, and the curriculum system and development direction ofmathematics maiors are discussed.
